Roland Lee "Swifty" Martin
Eureka- Roland Lee "Swifty" Martin, 83, of Eureka, IL passed
away peacefully at 11:45 am on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the
Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka. He was born on September 7,
1928 in Eureka to George and Ruth Anliker Martin. He married
Deloris Wittmer on August 2, 1959 in Eureka. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Bruce (Annie) Martin of
Congerville, IL; Dean (Becki) Martin of Eureka, IL; two daughters,
Lois Oltman of Los Angeles, CA; Janice (Keith) Chickering of
Phoenix, AZ; three brothers, Melvin Martin and Bill (Norma) Martin
both of Eureka, IL; Roger (Ruth) Martin of Dunlap, IL; four
sisters, Mary Anderson of Scottsdale, AZ; Verna Lott of Washington,
IL; Esther (Gordon) Hoffman of Peoria, IL; Marge Honeg of
Washington, IL; six grandsons, and two granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Roland was a farmer for 30 years and then worked in the farm
department at Farm and Fleet of Morton where he retired.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a non
combatant during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Eureka Apostolic Christian Church where
funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 25,
2012. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be held from
4-8 pm on Tuesday evening at the Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home
in Eureka and from 9-9:45 am on Wednesday at the church before the
service. Burial will be in the Roanoke Apostolic Christian
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorial contributions may be made
to the Eureka Apostolic Christian Home or the Advocate-Eureka
